This session will focus on the lifelong neurological and behavioral disorders related to individuals living with FASD or possible FASD.  Participants will learn from the research on how FASD occurs to better understand the lifelong behavioral implications for adults living with FASD.  Most adults do not have the proper diagnosis so in many cases providers may need to incorporate strategies for suspected FASD.  Strategies for caregivers and healthcare providers that serve adults with FASD and Suspected FASD in residential settings will be the focus of the session.  Resources will be reviewed.

Ms. Mitchell served as Vice President and Spokesperson for FASD United for 24 years and is currently their Senior V. P. of Prevention and Recovery Services.  She has worked in the field for forty years and continues to consult with numerous organizations as an expert on women and addiction, stigma and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).
