This presentation will focus broadly on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) fundamentals.  It will include information on the basics of AAC usage, the wide array of AAC types, and general tips for those supporting an AAC user.  TechOWL, a PA-based grant funded program for assistive technology, information will also be shared.  Participants will learn specific funding resources and local referrals for all things assistive technology related.

Rebekah Nesbitt, M.A., CCC-SLP, is the Assistive Technology Coordinator at Community Living and Support Services (CLASS).  Rebekah operates AT services for the Greater Pittsburgh Community in conjunction with Temple University’s TechOWL program.

Cassandra Calia, M.A., CCC-SLP, currently serves as an AAC Services Coordinator with the TechOWL team at the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University.  In her current role, she provides AAC Services and supports to individuals with complex communication needs.
