Healthy Boundaries, Consent, and Respect: Creating Safety for Self-Advocates
People with disabilities are often taught to be compliant and follow what their guardians, staff, and peers tell them to do. This compliance can lead self-advocates to lose their voice or fall victim to abuse. In this training, we will discuss how direct care professionals can model and teach healthy boundaries, consent, and respect.
Pam Malin has worked at the intersection of disability and abuse for over 35 years. She is currently working at Disability Rights Wisconsin in the Victim Advocacy Program, as a Lead Advocacy Specialist for victims of crime with disabilities. She is passionate about advocating for people with disabilities to have full meaningful lives free from abuse with access to justice.
